J. Sai Deepak is one of 71 lawyers recognized as Senior Advocates by the Delhi High Court, and the Supreme Court has granted this title to the newly appointed Additional Solicitor General.

The Delhi High Court has granted the title of Senior Advocate to 71 lawyers, including J. Sai Deepak, who is an engineer-turned-lawyer and author. In a related matter, the Supreme Court’s Full Court has appointed Raghavendra P. Shankar as Senior Advocate, effective November 29, 2024. He was named Additional Solicitor General on September 9 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The list from the Delhi High Court also features Advocate Arundhati Katju, who represented one of the Petitioners in the marriage equality case, while Sai Deepak represented one of the Respondents supporting the Union Government. Sai Deepak has written books such as India That Is Bharat: Coloniality, Civilisation, Constitution. The designation was made by the Permanent Committee of the Delhi High Court following the Senior Advocate Rules of 2024. This committee included Chief Justice Manmohan, Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Justice Yashwant Varma, Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, and Senior Advocates Sudhir Nandrajog and Mohit Mathur.
